Independent Contractor
When you work freelance, you have to know what you will and will not do when you are contracted for work. A good freelancer should know the value of his or her work and be compensated fairly. Your goal might be to build a strong network of clients from whom you receive consistent projects and who value your work.
As a self contractor, you’re responsible for reporting your earnings and paying your taxes with the correct forms. You cannot expect the people who contract you for work to make those deductions for you, so you may want to sign up for software that calculates and makes monthly payments to the IRS for you. Some banks offer this service with your business account. You can also hire an accountant who can keep track of this for you. Whatever the choice may be, you want to make sure that you are doing everything honorably and honestly. You never want to do anything that gets you into trouble with the IRS.
Carefully review all contracts for the work and services you provide to others. You have to be fully aware of what is expected of your services and that you provide accordingly.
